Seongdong Smart Shelter

Seongdong Smart Shelter is a bus shelter designed to make waiting at roadside stops safer and more comfortable. Curved laminated glass sides give an unobstructed view of approaching buses, so passengers need not step onto the road. Safety features include cameras, a panic button and an abnormal sound detector. Air conditioning, air sterilization and automatic screen doors improve comfort. A hearing loop, a wheelchair zone and audio and visual bus arrival information assist passengers who need mobility support. All facilities are controlled remotely.

Seongdong Smart Shelter Futuristic Bus Shelter by Seongdong-District Office was identified as an outstanding illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Seongdong Smart Shelter Futuristic Bus Shelter was awarded the Platinum A' Design Award in Street Furniture Design in 2025. The A' Street and City Furniture Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program which rewards superior design of benches, bollards, bus shelters, bicycle racks, litter bins, planters, signage, lighting fixtures and more.
